Red Sox Fans Are 0-5
October 19th, 2009 | by Darryl Johnston |
If you are rooting for the Angels in the ALCS.
Of course LAA may have wasted all of their bullets in the ALDS to beat Boston. It seems as though finally defeating the Red Sox was their hurdle and now that they’ve cleared it, they are staring down the barrel of an 0-2 deficit in the ALCS.
Meanwhile in Boston, it’s ‘beat a dead horse day’ as the ‘What happens with Jason Bay’ discussions continue. The Red Sox are going to make some moves this off-season to bring in some more offense. Either that or they will add another ace to the rotation. More pitching would be great, as it always is, but the Sox must have an upgrade at one of the infield corners.
Also, Jonathan Papelbon is not going anywhere, so stop with all of that nonsense. The windsock fans of Red Sox Nation are sometimes really vocal and it might appear to be popular opinion, but it’s really just radio talk show fodder. Paps in ‘09.
I am starting to wonder if Jason Varitek might end up the Red Sox manager when Terry Francona’s contract is up. He has everything you would want in a baseball manager and he understands the city of Boston. Is 2013 too soon for ‘Tek?
What happened to Lars Anderson this year? He was supposed to be the big first-base bat of the future and compiled a paltry .673 OPS in AA-Portland. He ripped it up in Singe-A Lancaster and had a nice debut with the Sea Dogs in ‘08 but definitely took a step back in ‘09.
Lots of stuff on the late for the Red Sox brass this offseason. It just sucks starting the discussion in October. This is post-Thanksgiving conversation.
