Mills Could Be On The Move To Houston

October 27th, 2009 | by Darryl Johnston |

The attrition continues in Boston.

From the Herald:

NEW YORK — Two reports out of Houston, one by the Houston Chronicle newspaper, the other the Astros’ own website, say that Red Sox bench coach Brad Mills is on his way to Houston tonight for his third interview for the vacant managerial job. Mills is the only candidate of the original 10 to get a third interview so far. Dave Clark and Phil Garner are said to be the two remaining candidates, although Bob Melvin’s name has been heard as well here in New York.

I’m really a big proponent of Jason Varitek joining the Red Sox coaching staff. He still will play another year but I really, truly think he is destined for coaching stardom. If Mills takes the Houston job, the Sox will probably fill the spot from within.
