Bobby Kielty Is Converting To Pitcher

Bobby Kielty Red Sox Champion

He plans to play baseball again.

Bobby Kielty, quietly famous in Boston for his postseason that helped the Red Sox to the 2007 title, has begun a baseball transition to becoming a pitcher.

Tim Dierkes is reporting the position change and says that Kielty possesses a pretty good slider. He is a long shot to make the a Major League roster and hasn’t played in the big leagues since 2007.

Kielty was a key component in the Red Sox’ 2007 postseason. His career success against Cleveland’s CC Sabathia earned him starts in Games 1 and 5 of the 2007 ALCS. Kielty hit .400 against Sabathia in the series and chipped in two RBI. In Game 4 of the 2007 World Series, Kielty lead off the 8th inning with a home run. It ended up being the game-clinching run as the Red Sox defeated the Colorado Rockies by a score of 4-3, securing their second championship of the decade.

Awesome!

Totally overlooked in RS Nation was Kielty’s impact on that postseason. Glad you brought it up, Darryl.
