I am not enjoying this at all. You look at the match ups and you can only count Lester for a win this weekend. Thursday night Wakefield was rocked and then Doubront threw himself into a loss on Friday with two personal errors. Cliff Lee is on the mound Saturday and that is a tough draw for Lackey. The Sox can feasibly only count Sunday for a W in the series. Read the rest of this entry >>

I don’t think it could be said any better than that. Jason Hunt of Jason’s Baseball Blog revisits the infamous 2003 trade that sent Curt Schilling to the Boston Red Sox and netted two World Series rings knocking the ‘losers’ label off the storied franchise that had struggled for nearly a century. If you are like most people, you don’t really bat an eye or think twice about Lowrie. Although he was a first-round pick out of Stanford and showed serious promise in the Red Sox minor league system, Lowrie has battled injuries and some hard luck at the major league level. He never really established himself in Boston before coming down with a case of Mono. Now he is just an afterthought. Read the rest of this entry >>

Westmoreland tweets that he hit off a tee today. He had surgery on his brain to remove a cavernous malformation. No one was sure if he’d ever play again, but it looks like he is beginning the long road to recovery. Read the rest of this entry >>

2010 has provided plenty of DL-trips and medical attention for Red Sox players. For those who are healthy and on the field, do you know who is the highest-paid? I’ll give you a hint…you probably used to hate him. Read the rest of this entry >>

I’m not going to get into the heart-warming tale of Daniel Nava because we all already know the story. It’s a great one. I just want to point out how awesome his swing is from the left side and how he is absolutely raking at Fenway Park. Read the rest of this entry >>

Anaheim is lame. I blame you for this embarrasing loss. I know you guys are supposed to be all laid back and cool but that park was ridiculously boring last night — save the booing of all the American League players. All you could hear were National League fans. The recipe for an NL win was all drawn up. Yankees pitcher in the game during a key situation, boring Southern California fans who’d rather be off eating fish tacos and sitting in traffic, and David Ortiz — a slow, big DH caught in no-man’s land.
